Cane Hill Consultation Website
In partnership with Croydon Council and the Mayor of London, Barratt Homes and Ward Homes have been working closely with local stakeholders and the community on developing plans for new homes and business premises on Cane Hill.
They aim to work within the existing landscape to provide a sustainable community, which retains the character and rural feel for the site, while providing much-needed housing.
Work is expected to start in the summer on Phase 1 of the scheme, which will see the building of 187 new homes as well as the removal of contaminated soil around the former hospital.
Eventually the site will accommodate 675 new homes, 24 per cent of which will be affordable and 80 per cent of which will have three or more bedrooms. As well as the new homes and around 3000m2 of commercial space, the development includes new access from the Marlpit Lane/Brighton Road roundabout.
Croydon Council originally granted outline planning consent for the scheme in April 2014. The plans were subsequently approved by the Mayor of London and full planning consent was granted in October 2014.
